And finally, our Fish of the Month is a very popular red, white and blue fish, the Neon Tetra!
Aquatic Life’s new Reverse Osmosis filters are in stock! These R/O filters produce water with zero hardness that is free of the unwanted nitrates and phosphates found in tap water. This product is not only useful to the Marine Reef Keeper but is also great for select freshwater fish like discus.
Remember fish don’t live in pure H2O, marine fish keepers should use a fortified marine mix like Instant Ocean’s Reef Crystals. Freshwater hobbyist can mix R/O water with treated tap or better yet use Kent’s R/O Right to replace the lost dissolved solids. Not only do we sell this great quality and low priced system R/O system, we use it here in the store! Ask us to show it to you on your next visit.

New Life Spectrum is a fish food so trustworthy, we use it right here in the store. New Life produces a wide range of pellet and flake food, with specialty formulas for goldfish, cichlids, community, and saltwater fish. They also produce medicated foods, such as Hex-Shield and Thera+A, to help fish resist internal parasites and infections. |
One of our most unique items are our hand cast, ceramic planters. Made in North Carolina, these planters will give your tank a natural look, while allowing you to aquascape however you choose. The holes in the bottom of the planters ensure that root growth will never be constricted. |
LRS fish food is a high quality frozen food for the whole reef! Pumped with probiotics, it is one of the best ways to boost your fish’s immune system. |
Our Spetrastone Aquarium Gravel is a go to for Aquarium decorating. Colors range from natural river rock, to neon orange and yellow gravel. This is the perfect substrate for any tank. |
This month, we want to highlight one of the most popular fish in the aquarium hobby, the Neon Tetra. Native to Brazil, Columbia, and Peru, the Neon Tetras have become a staple in planted aquariums. Their natural iridescence helps them stand out, and their peaceful nature is perfect for any community tank.
The neon tetra was imported in great numbers by Dr. Herbert Axelrod. An American scientist and businessman Dr. Axelrod wrote The Handbook of Tropical Aquarium Fishes, established TFH publications, educating hobbyist and spreading our hobby worldwide. The similar looking Cardinal Tetra (P. axelrodi) was named in his honor. Thanks in part to his work, hobbyists have been enjoying neon tetras for decades.
